Washington Analysis’ Policy Research Analysts provide independent and objective research and recommendations to the global investment community. Our team delivers actionable and timely research to our clients regarding investment implications of policy developments at the federal, state and local level.
The analyst will generally have sector-dedicated responsibilities, producing research and analysis primarily involving qualitative approaches, but also some quantitative work, leading to published content on a defined universe of policy issues.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and analyze public policy developments emanating from federal and state legislatures, regulators, and courts that present actionable investment opportunities
- Provide timely, forward-looking analysis of policy developments, news and other information to identify risks and opportunities affecting specific companies, sectors or other investible assets
- Publish key product offerings including company- sector-specific research notes, policy outlooks, and risk analyses
- Meet with institutional investors one-on-one and in group settings to discuss policy developments
- Host events and conference calls with primary-source subject matter experts
- Conduct and coordinate regulatory due diligence research projects on tight deadlines
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience researching, analyzing, writing, and presenting on policy developments
- Passion for and deep understanding of public policy
- Prior work experience in the policymaking process, either in government or in an outside stakeholder role (i.e. law, lobbying, government relations, associations, think tanks)
- Strong ability to communicate complex information effectively, both in writing and in person to our sophisticated investor client base
- At least one of the following credentials a plus: advanced degree in public policy, JD, MBA, or CFA (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of and interest in the financial markets
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within our team environment
- Entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help build and grow WA’s policy research business
