We think REIT fundamentals will remain resilient to economic headwinds that may happen in 2023. 2022 was a very difficult year for the broader REIT sector, with the S&P 1500 Real Estate index falling 28.8% and underperforming the broader S&P 1500 Composite index, which dropped 19.1%. No REIT sub-industries were able to realize positive returns in 2022 due to these headwinds and the broader bear market.
