FDA Action on Aspartame Unlikely

Summary

Recent reports that the World Health Organization (WHO) will reclassify aspartame as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” on July 14 has once again thrust questions about the safety of the additive into the spotlight. We believe it is highly unlikely the FDA will do anything to alter its status on the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) list.
