Four ETF Trends from the First Half of 2023

Summary

Active ETF issuers like JPMorgan, Dimensional, and Avantis had robust net flows in the first half of 2023, shaking up the ETF issuer leaderboard. Bitcoin-themed ETFs had the highest returns, driven by optimism around the approval of spot bitcoin ETFs. ETF investors rotated back into domestic equity ETFs in the second quarter of 2023 after a slow first quarter for flows.
