Spot Bitcoin ETF Race Kicks Off With a Fee War

Summary

On January 10, 2024, the SEC approved spot bitcoin ETFs. Grayscale's legal win against the SEC in 2023 paved the way. Ten ETFs worth $4.6 billion started trading on January 11, 2024. Another ETF was approved but will convert from futures to spot later. BlackRock, Fidelity, Invesco, and three other firms waived or reduced fees to attract assets.
