What a Fed Rate Pause (Or Cut) Might Mean for U.S. Utilities

Summary

CFRA anticipates the Federal Reserve is near the end of its current rate hike program and are looking ahead to a near-term pause or potential rate cut. Historically, utilities tend to underperform during post-rate hike Fed “pauses” within long periods of economic expansion, with some evidence of outperformance just prior to recessions.
